Context before color

01 · SOURCED OVERVIEW

Dragon Boat Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar and is a layered early-summer festival. Dragon-boat racing, zongzi, aromatic plants, sachets and multicoloured cords vary by region, and no single legend explains every local tradition. Water, boats, plants, thread and wrapped forms provide useful design structures. This modern high-recognition palette combines dark green, mugwort green, vermilion, pale yellow and Moon White; the relationship is editorial and is not presented as a unified historical festival standard.
