Context before color

01 · SOURCED OVERVIEW

Qingming is both an astronomically defined solar term and a festival carrying practices of remembrance, tomb sweeping and spring outings. Unlike festivals fixed to a lunar month and day, its exact annual instant must be checked against astronomical tables. Its visual context includes solemn remembrance but also new grass, willow, kites and outdoor recreation, so design should not reduce every Qingming scene to a single grey palette. This editorial set combines mugwort green, bamboo green, Moon White and muted blue-grey while separating commemorative uses from public spring-culture uses.

Use it in a real design task

05 · APPLICATION
  • Separate commemorative layouts from spring-outing communication; they may share greens but need different contrast and imagery.
  • Use restrained blue-grey for text and structure, not as a blanket symbol of mourning.
